Hi Chris,

Congratulations! It is interesting what life gives us by way of unexpected opportunities, isn't it? Looks like this lay-off came just at the right time for your creative and self-defining spirit to come out and express itself.

You are in great company. So many women are using this time of corporate unrest to explore their true values and desires. Women all over the place are starting businesses that make them so much more happy and fulfilled. This is a strong trend that will continue and will contribute enormously to the economic landscape and our shared cultural values.

Kudos, Chris. I can't wait to hear about your book!

Getting laid off and ignored by an indifferent job market was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Because I had nothing to lose, I decided to start my own business as an independent author-something I'd been putting off until my financial situation stabilized. What a waste of time.

My book isn't out yet, but I've discovered that experimenting with new business models excites me. I'm enjoying the challenge of grassroots marketing; doing things my way without the need for an employer's approval. I'm able to become the kind of business leader I'd always hoped there would be, but could never find.

Freedom from fear is quite the rush. I highly recommend it.
